The Algerian giants announced Mokwena as their new head coach after parting ways with Khalid Ben Yahia. The South African had been without a club since leaving Moroccan side Wydad AC toward the end of last season.
As the South African settles into life in Algeria, his priorities will be making new signings and ensuring the squad is ready for the season ahead.
According to Echorouk El Yawmi, Youcef Belaïli's father and agent, Hafid Belaïli, admitted that his son will not renew his contract with the Red and Yellow, which expires in June 2026, and instead is looking for new opportunities for his son.
"MC Alger is a great club, and Youcef left a fantastic impression there," Hafid said. "Now it’s up to the people in charge to do what needs to be done.”
The Algerian international formerly played for MC Alger during the 2023/24 season and he enjoyed great success, scoring 16 goals and adding 14 assists in 26 games for The Mouloudia, according to Transfermarkt.
Hafid revealed that his son would try to get a move to the Algerian side in January if a move cannot be negotiated now.
