The 24-year-old, currently on the books of Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis, could be available in the current window, although his price tag may pose a significant hurdle for Amakhosi.
According to Africafoot, Espérance are open to letting Mokwana leave but are holding out for a fee in the region of one million euros, which equates to more than R20 million.
Mokwana joined the Tunisian outfit last year but has struggled for consistent minutes in a competitive squad. Despite limited playing time, he played a role in the club’s successful campaign that saw them secure a domestic league and cup double.
He also featured in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Siya crew has been informed that Kaizer Chiefs are exploring the feasibility of bringing the Bafana Bafana international back to South Africa. While no formal approach has been made yet, Mokwana is understood to be open to returning home in order to secure more regular game time and revive his career.
Espérance are believed to have already received interest from Russian side FK Dinamo Makhachkala, who reportedly proposed a loan deal with an option to buy. However, the Tunisian club appears intent on a permanent transfer and remains firm on their valuation.
