Pyramids are on the brink of a potential treble this season. The Sky Blues are currently top of the Egyptian Premier League table, while they are also finalists of the Egyptian Cup and the CAF Champions League.
With all the competitions left to play, the team's officials feel as though the fixture schedule is too tightly packed and the club requested to have one of their league matches postponed.
Pyramids are set to play against Ceramica Cleopatra on 28 May, with the game scheduled in between the two legs of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, a source from the league committee has revealed to FilGoal that a postponement is not possible as Pyramids will have a seven-day break ahead of the first leg, more than the league's minimum of four days between games.
"Pyramids will have a 7-day break before the first leg of the CAF Champions League final. According to this season’s regulations, teams play every four days," the source told FilGoal.
The source added: "The Pyramids vs Ceramica Cleopatra match in Cairo is on 28 May, and the return leg against Sundowns — also in Cairo — is on 1 June. That’s a four-day gap, as per the regulations, which is consistent with what happened in both the group stage and knockout rounds."
Pyramids' extended run in cup competitions this year means more games in fewer days.

"It’s only natural that teams competing in multiple tournaments face more fixture pressure than others," the source concluded.
