Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has given the Buccaneers the formula to dethrone serial league winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns have set the standard by hitting the 70-point mark and anyone looking to dethrone them need to ensure that they match what the Tshwane giants are doing. Pirates have been the bridesmaids over the last two seasons, but they've been far behind in the race.

Pirates finished 12 points behind Sundowns last season and 23 the campaign before that. To unseat Sundowns at the top, Lekgwathi says the Buccaneers cannot drop points against the bottom clubs.
"As a team, you need to learn from your mistakes. I hope they have learnt from dropping points against some of the smaller (teams). If they can rectify that, then they can win it. You need to collect points from the so-called smaller clubs. That's where you win the league," Lekgwathi said to Soccer Laduma.
"It's going to be a tough season. We have a new coach and new players and everyone must adapt. After watching their friendlies in Spain, I think they can do well this season. There is healthy competition. We have three or four players in every position. Last season, the team was let down by injuries, so I am hoping that players will be injury free. We have a balanced team that can challenge for everything. Credit should go to the leadership of the team."
