According to The Athletic, the Red Devils have reached an agreement with Brentford over a transfer fee for Bryan Mbeumo. The deal consists of an initial £65 million (R1.5 billion), with the remaining amount made up of add-ons.
The agreement comes after weeks of negotiations between United and the Bees. The Cameroonian is now set to become the club’s latest signing of the window. The same report claims that the versatile attacker prioritised a move to Old Trafford, despite reported interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Newcastle United.
United are believed to have submitted two previous bids, both of which were rejected, as the London-based side held out for a fee in excess of £62.5 million (R1.4 billion) — the same amount United paid for their first signing of the window, Matheus Cunha.
Now, having met that valuation, the French-born attacker is poised to become the most expensive sale in Brentford’s history, surpassing the €42 million (R866 million) Al Ahli paid for Ivan Toney last season.
