Riveiro ‘Promises’ Strong Performance Against Porto

Al Ahly Coach Jose Riveiro

Al Ahly coach Jose Riveiro has promised a strong performance ahead of the Red Devils crucial FIFA Club World Cup clash against FC Porto.

Al Ahly will face the Portuguese side in their final Club World Cup game with both sides currently level on 1 point after two group games.

Anything less than a win for the Red Devils would see the Egyptian giants eliminated. If Al Ahly beats FC Porto, they will need Palmeiras to beat Inter Miami to be guaranteed qualification to the last 16.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Riveiro admitted his team's only objective is to get a win against the 30-time league champions, Youm7 reported.

"We will try to beat Porto and qualify for the next round," he said. "We are determined to do so and are working hard. We will keep trying. In the first match against Inter Miami, we imposed our style of play in the first half, but things changed in the second half.”

Riveiro reflected on the performance against Palmeiras and admitted he was happy with the first half performance, but expected more in the second half.

"We must ensure that doesn’t happen again, especially with so little time available. We need to make sure we play in a cohesive manner," he said.

He added: "I’m very happy and proud of the team’s spirit and cooperation. We know that these kinds of matches are often decided by small but crucial details. The performance may not have been perfect, but I’m fully aware of the positive aspects we’ve achieved so far. Anything is possible against Porto.

"We came here to do everything in our power to represent our team well. Once again, I assure you that tomorrow you will see a very strong performance from us," he concluded.
