With previous reported interest from Kaizer Chiefs, North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etiosa Ighodaro finds himself in a complicated situation as the transfer window continues.
Despite multiple clubs showing interest in his services, as previously reported by the Siya crew, no deal has materialised yet. More significantly, Sundowns have not registered the Nigerian forward for the new season, which officially kicked off with the MTN8 tournament over the weekend.

Insiders close to both Sundowns and the player have indicated that Ighodaro is currently training independently while Kaizer Chiefs continue to monitor his situation.
"He is training on his own. It's believed that his head is affected by the interest from Kaizer Chiefs and that he still has a running contract with Sundowns, so he is at a crossroads right now. But because he wants to remain fit, he is training on his own for now," the insider told Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, a second source stated that Amakhosi haven't abandoned their pursuit of the striker and are exploring various avenues to secure his signature before the transfer window closes.
"Chiefs haven't given up on him. They are still working behind the scenes to try and get him for this season. They have a chance of registering him as a local player if they can sign him as he is waiting for his Permanent Residence Permit papers as well. So Chiefs are looking at all those possibilities to sign him," the second source told the Siya crew.

The Nigerian striker has one year remaining on his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, which is set to expire in June 2026. This timeframe adds another layer of complexity to any potential transfer, as interested clubs must decide whether to pay a transfer fee now or potentially wait to sign him as a free agent next year.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment on Ighodaro's situation but the club has not responded yet.
