While his unveiling has sparked excitement among the Algerian faithful, Siya sources have now revealed that Mokwena could be set to bring in a familiar face as part of his new technical team.
As was the case during his short-lived stint in Morocco, the South African tactician is believed to have requested permission to assemble his own backroom staff, a hallmark of Mokwena's coaching preferences.
But while his former assistant Sinethemba Badela has already moved on to take the head coaching job at Chippa United, attention has now shifted to Michael Loftman.
Loftman previously worked with Mokwena at Mamelodi Sundowns, initially as the club's set-piece coach before being promoted to assistant. The duo is understood to have enjoyed a strong working relationship, with Loftman credited for his analytical approach and tactical contributions, particularly on dead-ball situations.
He was notably absent from Mokwena's technical team at Wydad, due largely to his personal coaching project at ABC Motsepe League side Houtbay FC, as well as his commitment to completing the UEFA Pro Licence.
However, with that milestone now behind him, Siya sources have indicated that Mokwena is seriously considering reuniting with Loftman at MC Alger. The Algerian champions are preparing for a CAF Champions League campaign next season, and Mokwena is believed to want a team around him that he knows and trusts.
