Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has gone into detail to reveal the transfer decision makers at the club, following the arrival of Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC.
Cardoso has been in the country for over six months as a coach at Sundowns and has been able to expand his knowledge on players in the PSL. Basadien has arrived, and the coach had his say in the matter, but he revealed that he does not have the final say.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Basadien's agent Basia Michaels revealed that the player wanted to sign for the Tshwane giants, even though there was interest elsewhere. The player made his debut in the 4-0 victory over Richards Bay in the MTN8 over the weekend, coming on as a second-half substitute.
The decision to sign the player was a collective one, as revealed by Cardoso to the media after the Brazilians' latest match.
"It's important we clarify that in Sundowns it's not the coach who chooses the players. I don't choose the players that enter the team. The players in Mamelodi Sundowns are chosen by the coach, the sports director and the board and the chairman. That's how the players come in the club. It's not up to me to say 'I want that one. If you don't bring him, I am not happy'. It's not the way we work.

"We look at profiles and try to select the best profiles, and there's a business that, of course, I have an opinion that technically I should give. If it's not like that, it would probably be quicker."
Basadien played at right back when he came on in the second half, an usual position for him. At times, when Sundowns were in possession, he drifted into central midfield.
