Chiefs Enquire To Sign Former Midfielder Back

KWAMHLANGA, SOUTH AFRICA - JUNE 21: Lebohang Lesako of Casrics andLefa Lebalelo of Orbit College during the Betway Premiership, Promotion/Relegation Play-Off match

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be monitoring one of their former players who is currently involved in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs, the Siya crew has been informed.

An insider with extensive knowledge of Chiefs' recruitment options has indicated that Amakhosi are believed to have enquired about a Casric Stars midfielder who was once on their books.

The insider added Chiefs have shown interest and have enquired about their former player, midfielder Lebohang Lesako who has been doing very well for the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.

"Some Chiefs scouts and recruiters have been following his progress. They know him already as he is their former player and they are happy on how he has progressed from where he was before to where he is this season. He has shown growth both as a player and as a person and that's what makes them happy with his progress. They are believed to have enquired about him as they have shown interest in him," the source told Soccer Laduma.

Meanwhile, an insider with connections to both clubs stated that any possible move would be delayed by the fact that Casric Stars are currently competing in the playoffs.

"They are believed to be respecting Castic Stars and are giving them space as they are still fighting in the playoffs. It's apparently believed that after the playoffs that's when things can open up. But the interest is there in Lebohang Lesako," the source told the Siya crew.

The 25-year-old was a regular for Casric Stars, featuring in most Motsepe Foundation Championship league games.

He was once on the books of Kaizer Chiefs during the 2020/21 season before departing to pursue regular playing time at Uthongathi and then moved to Moroka Swallows.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment on the situation but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.

The potential return of Lesako would represent an interesting career trajectory for a player who initially couldn't make an impact at Naturena at a young age. Having gained valuable experience and shown significant development at Casric Stars, Chiefs' renewed interest suggests they believe he may now be ready to contribute at PSL level.
