Paseka Mako's decision to leave Orlando Pirates was not an easy one, but it's one that could give him the one thing he wants right now.
Mako was with the Buccaneers for seven years, making over 150 appearances for the Soweto giants. After returning from a long injury lay-off, the player was slowly making his way into the team.

He finished the 2024/25 campaign with 26 appearances in all competitions, with 12 of those being from the starting line-up. The player, though, wanted more game time, which is why he made the decision to find a new home.
"The basic football text is game time. Paseka wants to play despite what circumstances are in life. He just wants to play. And that's not necessarily what was happening at Pirates," his agent Basia Michaels of QT Sports said to Soccer Laduma.
Pirates, it appears, were interested in giving the former Chippa United player a new contract.
"We had conversations with the chairman on the basis that Paseka has served the club for a large number of years and he felt that he would owe it to Paseka to extend his contract. With that, we tried to create the balance, but when Paseka came and expressed the fact that he really wants to play a lot more, it wasn't looking likely. And because that was not looking likely, we then had to make the conscious decision between the three of us that if this is not what we are finding between us," Michaels said.

"Yes, we would appreciate a new contract, but the new contract would come at the expense of us wanting to play more. And because what the medical and technical team felt, Paseka made the request that he would like to find another club."
Mako is expected to be unveiled as a new Kaizer Chiefs player in future, but it remains to be seen if the deal will be completed.
