Despite earlier reports suggesting that Rayaan Jacobs would follow Jose Riveiro to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, latest developments indicate that the Orlando Pirates Head of Performance is set to remain in Soweto.
Jacobs, along with physical trainer Carlos Nodar, was previously tipped to join Riveiro’s backroom staff in Cairo, in a move seen as testament to the coach’s trust in their capabilities.

However, Pirates appear determined to retain Jacobs as part of their long-term technical setup under a new head coach who is yet to be announced.
A source close to the situation told the Siya crew, “Rayaan is still very much part of the plans at Pirates. Along with Mandla Ncikazi, he’s expected to form part of the technical team supporting the new coach. There’s no indication he will be leaving the club.”

Jacobs continued to play an active role at the Buccaneers following Riveiro’s early departure in May, with the club confirming at the time that Assistant Coach Mandla Ncikazi would lead the team on an interim basis, and assisted by him.
Meanwhile, Riveiro will also not be reunited with his former assistant Sergio Almenara. The Spaniard has since been appointed as assistant coach at Danish champions FC Copenhagen, where he joins the technical team under Jacob Neestrup.
