The story
Kaizer Chiefs attacker Mduduzi Shabalala has earned his first call-up to Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana team, marking a significant milestone in his budding career.
The young baller previously featured in South Africa's COSAFA Cup squad earlier this year, where the team finished as runners-up after losing to Angola in the final.
Shabalala made his breakthrough during the 2022/23 season and has since racked up 81 appearances for the Glamour Boys, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
Following the announcement, Shabalala received an outpouring of congratulatory messages on social media.
Among the well-wishers was his Kaizer Chiefs teammate and fellow rising star, 19-year-old Mfundo Vilakazi, who shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram story, celebrating his friend's achievement.
"I pray that God blesses you with happiness in this universe. May you prosper and shine everywhere you go… congratulations, my dawg!" wrote Obrigado in his post.
