The story
Khaya Mfecane enjoyed a positive start to life as a Chippa player on Saturday by scoring his first goal in the club's 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns, capping off his debut by earning his first Man of the Match (MOTM) award.
However, it wasn't just his performance and 65th-minute equaliser that got people talking — his post-match speech, which included a bit of profanity, quickly made waves online and has since gone viral.
In reflecting on his performance, the former Cape Town Spurs midfielder and right-back expressed gratitude to his employer, Chilli Boys' chairman, Chippa Mpengesi, for giving him the opportunity before dropping the f-bomb in describing how good his teammates have been during pre-season under coach Sinethemba Badela.
"For us, it all came down to preparation. In pre-season, we were f***ing excellent – sorry for the language," said Mfecane at the start of his MOTM remarks.
"It's just preparation, belief from the team. Coming up against defending champions is not easy, but with the belief and support system we have, we just had to perform and make our fans happy," added the versatile youngster.
