With Mamelodi Sundowns in yet another CAF Champions League final, we take a look at the South Africans who have found the back of the net in African club football’s biggest match.

Ka Bo Yellow will be playing in their third final in the competition’s history when they come up against Pyramids FC over the next two weekends.
In that respect, they are the most successful side from South Africa when it comes to the continental showpiece, having appeared in the final more than any other South African team. Orlando Pirates have played in two finals, while Kaizer Chiefs have featured in just one.
However, while Masandawana may have made more appearances in the Champions League final than any other South African club, it is the Buccaneers who have had the most players from the Rainbow Nation find the back of the net in this critical stage of the competition.
Most of the Sea Robbers stars who scored did so during their lone triumphant continental campaign in 1995. Helman Mkhalele was the first South African to score in a CAF Champions League final, and during the same match, centre-back Gavin Lane equalised for Ezikamagebhula as they drew 2-2 in the first leg of the final against Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas.
It would be yet another South African who struck the decisive blow in the tie, as Jerry Sikhosana’s goal in the second leg proved enough to see Pirates win the highly coveted prize.

While Sundowns are on the verge of playing in their third final, Tebogo Langerman is the only South African to have scored for them at this stage of the tournament. He found the back of the net during their 3-0 first-leg win over Zamalek in 2016.
