It seems almost certain that the England international will leave his boyhood club once again this coming off-season. During the mid-season transfer window of the 2024/25 campaign, Rashford bid farewell to Old Trafford — albeit temporarily, for the first time in his career.
The Manchester native joined Aston Villa on loan, where he enjoyed relative success, scoring four goals and providing six assists in the 17 matches he played for the Birmingham-based side.
It is believed that while the Villans would’ve loved to sign him on a permanent deal, their inability to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League has made that potential acquisition practically impossible.
It is understood that the 27-year-old would have equally appreciated signing with Villa, but he has now seemingly shifted his focus to a new dream destination. According to Sport, Rashford now wants to join Barcelona and has given the green light to sign with the Catalan giants.
Prior to making the move to Villa Park in January, it was alleged that the Blaugrana wanted him and were actively looking to sign him.
Financial constraints meant that the deal never came to fruition, but the aforementioned publication has revealed that earlier this week, the player’s camp reignited talks with the Barca hierarchy in an effort to successfully complete a deal ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The same report claims that Barca’s main target is actually Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, but the club now believe that signing Rashford on a loan deal is more economically viable than acquiring the Colombian attacker.
It is said that this is not a deal that will materialise in the near future, and the player will likely need to exercise patience.
