Al Ahly have reportedly made a decision on whether to pursue the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo following the attacker’s cryptic social media post.

After finishing the recent Saudi Pro League campaign — where he secured the league’s Golden Boot honours for a second successive season, the legendary marksman posted a cryptic caption under his latest Instagram post. It read: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
Despite his individual success since joining Al Nassr in the Saudi top flight, the iconic forward is yet to lift any meaningful silverware with the Knights of Najd, and the post has sparked speculation that he could be on his way out of Riyadh.
Many clubs have been linked with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, particularly those set to feature in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. One of the sides rumoured to be of interest to Portugal’s all-time leading scorer are record African champions Al Ahly.
The Red Devils, along with Inter Miami, will be playing in the opening match of the revamped global showpiece. Ronaldo’s long-time rival Lionel Messi now plays for the Herons, and many have suggested that a move to the Cairo-based outfit may appeal to the 39-year-old, offering a final showdown between the two icons. However, according to El Watan Sports, the North African giants have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Ronaldo.

The same report claims the main reason is due to his salary expectations. The Madeira native is believed to have been earning €200 million per year in Saudi Arabia — a figure likely far beyond what Al Ahly could afford.
