Jose Riveiro’s predecessor at Al Ahly, Marcel Koller, has officially concluded his multi million salary dispute with the Egyptian giants.

Following the Club of the Century’s elimination by Mamelodi Sundowns in last season’s CAF Champions League, the Egyptian giants made the decision to sack Swiss tactician Marcel Koller. The 64-year-old enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in Cairo, securing a total of 11 titles during his tenure.
However, after failing to clinch a third consecutive continental crown, the club opted to part ways with him.
Upon his departure, though, unresolved financial matters surfaced. Reports emerged earlier this week claiming that Al Ahly owed their former manager $3 million (R54 million) in outstanding payments. It was further alleged that Koller and his representative, Dino Lamberti, were considering escalating the matter to FIFA.
But the 12-time CAF Champions League winners, not eager to be drawn into a prolonged dispute, have now resolved the matter. Lamberti confirmed the development via his official Instagram account:
“Out of mutual respect and appreciation between Al-Ahly Club and Marcel Koller.
“We hereby announce that we have reached an amicable solution to all matters related to Marcel Koller's contract.
“After terminating the contract, Kohler received the equivalent of three months' salary as a notice period, in addition to all his financial dues and bonuses for the season ending on June 30, 2025.
“We greatly appreciate our strong relationship with Al-Ahly Club, its board of directors, and its loyal fans.
“We wish everyone at Al-Ahly Club continued success in the future.”
