According to TalkSport, Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal are quietly confident they can successfully lure the 30-year-old to Riyadh. It is understood that earlier this week, the playmaker’s agent, Miguel Pinho, was at the Four Seasons Hotel to discuss the possibility of a lucrative move for the Portugal international.
The same report claims that the Blue Wave are offering the Red Devils £100 million (R2.4 billion) for Fernandes, alongside wages of £65 million (R1.5 billion) per year. This would represent United’s biggest sale since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid in 2009, and would make the central midfielder the third-highest earner in the Saudi Pro League, behind only his legendary international teammate and Karim Benzema.
It is said that the Maia native is yet to reject Al Hilal’s offer, giving the Saudi club increased confidence that they can secure the deal in the coming weeks.
The Middle Eastern side have not enjoyed the best 2024/25 campaign by their lofty standards, surrendering the league title to Al-Ittihad. That disappointment was compounded by the long-term injury to their marquee star Neymar earlier this season.
Al Hilal are among the 32 teams set to compete in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and are seemingly seeking another superstar signing before facing off against some of the best clubs on the planet.

Whether Fernandes ultimately leaves Old Trafford remains to be seen, but a potential £100 million injection could be hard to turn down for United — especially after their recent loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final, a competition with prize money matching the reported offer.
