Riveiro's appointment was merely a matter of time as the Spaniard announced, shortly after leaving Orlando Pirates, that he was set to make the switch to the Egyptian giants.
Despite news of his imminent arrival, the club chose to delay the official announcement to not take anything away from the players who were performing well under interim coach Emad El-Nehhas.
The Red Giant won their 45th league title on Wednesday with a dominant 6-0 win over Pharco and Riveiro's announcement came 24 hours later.
The ex-Buccaneers boss will officially take charge on Friday and reportedly made his first request to the club's management, according to Youm7.
Reports suggest that Riveiro requested a comprehensive report on the club's youth sector to get a better understanding of the club's structures.
The Vigo-born coach reportedly wants a detailed overview of how many youth players there are, what role the academy has played in contributing to the first-team squad and to assess their fitness and talent levels.
Riveiro wants to integrate all youth players into the first team to create a pipeline of homegrown stars.
He reportedly intends to attend several youth matches in person to assess standout players firsthand.
