Big Boost For Riveiro As Zamalek Make Call

Zamalek Boss Jose Peseiro

The Zamalek SC board is set to make a final decision over the future of head coach Jose Peseiro amid recent links to Jose Riveiro.

The Portuguese coach has come under increasing pressure since The White Castle was eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Stellenbosch FC.

Soccer Laduma exclusively revealed in April that Jose Riveiro was among the names shortlisted for the position if Peseiro departs.

The side has also experienced a poor run of form in the Egyptian Premier League and the side's disappointing 2-2 draw against Al Ahly Bank was the apparent final nail in the coffin for Peseiro.

According to Egyptian publication Yallakora, an informed source reportedly revealed that the board called an emergency meeting where it was agreed that Peseiro would be relieved of his duties.

It is believed that Peseiro will receive his salary from the final two months of his contract, reported to be $70,000 (R1.2 million) per month, meaning he will receive $140,000 in total (R2.4 million).

Masrawy reported that Peseiro's representatives have not been officially notified of his departure but the board has made a decision, saying the former Nigeria manager will be informed once the club has found a replacement.

Talks are expected to take place with Peseiro this week to reach an amicable agreement regarding his departure.
