Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has provided insight into the Club’s current stance in the transfer market and expectations for the crucial early stretch of the season.

Amakhosi have already made a number of high-profile signings, bolstering key areas within Nasreddine Nabi’s squad during a carefully planned pre-season that included matches against FC Twente in the Netherlands and Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup.

“We believe we have reinforced key areas within the squad, but we know that recruitment is an ongoing process,” Motaung Jr. stated on the Club’s official channels.

Chiefs have been strongly linked with Bafana Bafana striker Khanyisa Mayo and Nigerian forward Etiosa Ighodaro, though the Club has remained tight-lipped on potential incomings. Motaung Jr.'s comments suggest that while the core squad is in place, there is room for strategic additions should the right opportunity arise.

Turning attention to the immediate future, the Sporting Director emphasised the importance of building momentum in the opening fixtures.

“The goal is to secure as many points as possible to kick-start the season and establish a strong position before the CAF Confederation Cup campaign gets underway in September,” he explained.

Chiefs are set to return to CAF inter-club competition for the first time since their memorable run to the 2021 CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly in Morocco.

“We are very happy to be back in one of CAF’s prestigious competitions,” Motaung Jr. added.

“We aim to build on our successful run in 2021. Going to the Netherlands for our preseason and participating in the Toyota Cup against another CAF side like Kotoko was a strategic move as we prepared for 2025/26.”
