With speculation mounting around the future of in-demand fullback Fawaaz Basadien, Stellenbosch FC are wasting no time in lining up a potential replacement should the defender depart.

Basadien remains under contract at the Winelands outfit but has attracted serious interest from Mamelodi Sundowns and clubs in North Africa, according to Siya sources. And true to their proactive transfer model, Stellies are already preparing for life after the 28-year-old.
The Siya crew understands that Stellenbosch are set to announce the signing of Turan Mantov, a 26-year-old Azerbaijan-born left back, on a free transfer, pending final details and successful completion of a medical.
The move is in line with Stellenbosch’s approach to pre-emptively secure replacements before key players depart, a strategy that has helped the club remain competitive despite regularly losing talent to famous teams.
The TransferRoom platform, a digital tool that’s become increasingly popular among top clubs worldwide, played a key role in facilitating the deal.
It’s the same platform the club used to secure Belgian defender Henri Stanic from FC Balzan, who has come in as a replacement for Ismail Toure, now officially departed.

Should Basadien seal a move away, Stellenbosch would already have cover in place, with Mantov set to add depth and experience down the left flank. As always, the club remains a step ahead in its planning, a trademark of its rise in recent seasons.
