Coetzee Tipped To Join Former Coach

POLOKWANE, SOUTH AFRICA - OCTOBER 27: Rivaldo Coetzee of Mamelodi Sundowns during the Betway Premiership match between Polokwane City and Mamelodi Sundowns

Just weeks after departing Mamelodi Sundowns, the South African player could reunite with his former coach in the Betway Premiership, the Siya crew understands.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Sundowns released certain players whose contracts were not renewed at the end of last season. Sources close to the situation now indicate that one of these players is poised to continue his career with a PSL side in Durban.

Insiders close to both the player and the club have stated that Rivaldo Coetzee is the player expected to reunite with coach Manqoba Mngqithi at Golden Arrows, who have expressed strong interest in securing his services.

"He could soon be joining another team in the PSL. It's believed that Golden Arrows are interested in him. You know coach Manqoba Mnqgithi knows him better, and they could soon reunite. He still has got it in him. He is still only 28-years-old and once fully fit he is a very good player and Arrows would benefit from him," the source told Soccer Laduma.

Meanwhile, a second source revealed that Coetzee's former club, the Brazilians have demonstrated goodwill by allowing him to maintain his fitness using their facilities while he finalizes his next move.

"Rivaldo Coetzee has been granted permission to continue using Mamelodi Sundowns' facilities while finalising his move to a new club. The club wants what's best for him, and that's why it's believed that they could allow him to use their gym to keep fit, and it's believed that one club interested in him is Golden Arrows," the second insider revealed.

The former Ajax Cape Town defender joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018, but his tenure at the club was hampered by injuries, which also cost him his place at Bafana Bafana.

Soccer Laduma contacted Golden Arrows for comment on the situation, but received no response at the time of publishing.
