Jessica: Chiefs Supporters Need To Give New Signings Time

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - JUNE 26: Jessica Motaung Marketing & Commercial Director during the 2025 Toyota Cup official launch at Kaizer Chiefs Village on June 26, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs have been active in the transfer market during the off-season, with several new signings showcased during the club's recent pre-season training camp in the Netherlands.

While supporters have expressed satisfaction with many of the newcomers, concerns have emerged regarding striker Flavio Silva, with some fans drawing unfavorable comparisons.

Addressing these early doubts at the launch of the club's 2025/26 home and away jerseys, Amakhosi's Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung urged supporters to reserve judgment and allow players time to integrate with the team.

"My take on the players is that this is pre-season. Players have to be given a chance, whether they are coming from the youth or coming from other teams or other places. It is important to be given a chance to really get to know the team and get to play with different players. I think our supporters need to give them time. The proof is in the pudding, let the players get on the pitch and do the work as the season progresses," Motaung told journalists.

Motaung expressed optimism about the upcoming campaign, highlighting the club's ambitions to compete effectively across all the tournaments they've qualified for.

"We want to achieve complete success. That is the vision. That is where we are going. That is the language we are speaking. That is how we are walking, that is how we are talking, and that is how we are behaving. It is all about success, and we are saying to our supporters, they need to walk that journey with us. But every competition, every game situation is about winning and making sure we are successful and doing it the Chiefs way,” Motaung concluded.

Chiefs will next be in action against Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko in the annual Toyota Cup on Saturday, 26 July, at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
