Orlando Pirates rescued a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu in their penultimate Betway Premiership clash on Saturday afternoon.

Result: AmaZulu 1-1 Orlando Pirates

Date: 24 May 2025

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Buccaneers coach Mandla Ncikazi welcomed Mofokeng back from suspension, while Sipho Chaine was also recalled between the sticks after Tuesday's win over SuperSport United.

The game's first real opening fell to the home side after 11 minutes when Etiosa Ighodaro got on the end of a corner, but sent his header over the crossbar.

Nickazi was forced to make change for the visiting side after 20 minutes when young defender Mbokazi was forced off and replaced by Thapelo Xoki.

The Soweto giants enjoyed most of the ball in the first half, but Arthur Zwane's charges remained resolute in defence and restricted their opponents to efforts from distance.

It was more of the same in the second period, as the Buccaneers dominated possession in the early stages without creating much in the final third of the pitch.

The deadlock was finally broken after 66 minutes as Tshepang Moremi got his name on the score-sheet with his fourth league goal of the campaign against the run of play.

The Buccaneers did get back on level terms ten minutes later when Simphiwe Selepe grabbed his first goal for the first team, which ultimately sealed a point for the away side in their penultimate league clash.
