Coetzee & Mbule Updates: 'We Will Definitely Move On'

Just a few days remain before the deadline for Mamelodi Sundowns to exercise the options of two midfielders and the club is not showing any signs of opening talks to keep them.

Both Rivaldo Coetzee and Sipho Mbule have contracts expiring at the end of June and the club has until the end of May to indicate if they want to exercise the options in their contracts.

As things stand, Sundowns have not expressed a desire to keep the players and their agent Mike Makaab has revealed to Soccer Laduma that they will move on if the Betway Premiership side does not make a decision by May 31.

"No, not yet. Riva and Sipho Mbule are the two we are waiting for. They (Sundowns) have until the end of the month to make a decision. If they don't (exercise the option by May 31), we will definitely move on," Makaab said to Soccer Laduma.

Coetzee has recovered from injury and has been working his way back to fitness in training. He made a promising start to the season with former coach Manqoba Mngqithi, but the cycle of injuries repeated itself when he got a knock about two months before the arrival of current coach Miguel Cardoso. The former Ajax Cape Town player last featured for the Tshwane giants in October last year, with a total of eight appearances in all competitions this season.

Mbule, meanwhile, has had a topsy-turvy campaign on loan to Sekhukhune United. The move was seen as an opportunity for him to get game time and force his way back into the team at Chloorkop, but it's not worked out at all.

Initially, it looked as though he was rediscovering his best form with Babina Noko. He was the conductor in the middle of the park and was terrorising the opposition. That, however, did not last long until reports of an alleged disagreement with a technical team member made headlines a few months ago. It was then followed up by another alleged incident of misconduct recently, which saw Sekhukhune letting go of him before the end of the loan agreement.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Sundowns are unlikely to keep the midfielder and his representatives will work on securing him new employment for next season.
