Once again, just like last season, Kaizer Chiefs have failed to qualify for the top eight, but coach Nasreddine Nabi has insisted that as much as it's painful, the process of building the team continues.
Talking to the media after the season-ending goalless draw against Polokwane City on Saturday at FNB Stadium, Nabi revealed he had recently met with club chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung Sr. to discuss the way forward.

“Yesterday we had a meeting with the chairman and we know exactly what needs to be done. In terms of players, I will not say how many and which kind of players we need but the recruitment department is working very hard and everybody knows the needs for the team and contact has started already. We hope that when we get what we need we are sure that the team will improve a lot,” Nabi told journalists.
The Tunisian-born mentor further stated that despite not having a good league season, his meetings with management have established clear plans for improvement.

“Management knows what needs to be done and which areas to improve. About the evaluation, our standing in the league is not what I expected or what I feel we deserved. It is not a very good standing but as well on the other hand it was difficult but we managed to win a cup. I would not rate myself but would rate the season we have been through which I consider to be not a negative season because we managed to win a cup. But as well, we managed to get further in the process and we now know what needs to be done from next season,” the coach concluded.
Just like last season, Kaizer Chiefs failed to qualify for the top eight as they finished ninth after ending the previous campaign in 10th position.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on next season's MTN8 competition, Chiefs' Nedbank Cup triumph over Orlando Pirates has secured CAF Confederation Cup football for the club, ending their decade-long trophy drought. The coming transfer window now takes on added significance as Nabi looks to strengthen his squad for both domestic and continental challenges in the 2025/26 season.
