Kaizer Chiefs are yet to make a final decision on Mhleli Mabuza, the Portuguese-based right-back who recently spent time training with the club.
Mabuza, who plies his trade in Portugal, was spotted at Naturena towards the end of the 2024/25 season as Chiefs continue to assess options for a defensive overhaul ahead of the new campaign.

While his presence at the club sparked speculation of an imminent deal, insiders have now confirmed that no agreement has been reached.
“Chiefs are still weighing up their options. There’s been no formal offer for Mabuza yet,” a source close to the situation told the Siya crew.
“He trained with the team, and the technical staff have had a chance to look at him, but nothing has been finalised.”
Despite the uncertainty, Mabuza’s representatives remain optimistic. The player’s camp believes he did enough during his short stint at Naturena to earn a contract and are hopeful that negotiations could resume once Chiefs finalise their squad plans for the 2025/26 season.

“There’s interest from other clubs as well, but the player has his heart set on joining Chiefs,” the source added. “He’s a quality fullback with experience in Europe, and we’re confident he can add value.”
With Amakhosi set for a busy off-season and major changes expected under the new technical direction, the door remains open for Mabuza – but the clock is ticking.
