SuperSport United have officially confirmed that their abandoned Betway Premiership clash against Golden Arrows will resume on Thursday, 29 May 2025, with only the second half left to be played.
The club made the announcement on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that the match will continue at Lucas Moripe Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 12h00.

The initial fixture – originally staged as a milestone match for former head coach Gavin Hunt, marking his 1000th game in the PSL – was dramatically halted due to loadshedding, rendering the stadium floodlights unusable and forcing the abandonment of play at half-time.
At the time of suspension, the game had yet to reach a conclusion, and the PSL has since ruled that the second half will be played in isolation on the scheduled date.
The decision to resume the match comes at a crucial time in the league calendar, with both SuperSport United and Golden Arrows still jostling for final log positions that could impact the relegation battle, with Cape Town City one of the teams involved.
While the circumstances were unfortunate, the resumption offers both teams a chance to finish what they started and give fans the full 90-minute contest they were denied initially.
But the resumption of the clash carries more than just sentimental value – it now has serious implications for Cape Town City FC, who find themselves in a precarious position at the bottom end of the table.
City finished their regular season with 27 points, following a goalless draw against local rivals Stellenbosch FC at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.
Although they sit just one point above the relegation zone, their fate is not yet sealed.
City must now wait on the outcome of the remaining 45 minutes between SuperSport and Arrows.
A win for SuperSport would push City into the promotion/relegation playoff spot, meaning that the fate of the Cape club may rest entirely on a single half of football between these two teams.
This adds an extra layer of tension and importance to the rescheduled fixture, not only for SuperSport and Arrows but also for a City side in limbo, anxiously hoping for a favourable result to secure their top flight status.
With the Betway Premiership season officially concluded for most clubs, all eyes will now turn to Lucas Moripe Stadium on Thursday, where half a game will determine not just match points – but also the survival of one of the league’s established teams. A draw will be enough for SuperSport to survive and for City to move into the playoffs.
