Al Ahly head coach Jose Riveiro has outlined what his team needs to do to overcome Palmeiras in their second FIFA Club World Cup game.
Official: Riveiro Suffers Big Blow After CWC Opener
The Red Devils faced Inter Miami in the opening game of the tournament as the two teams played out to a 0-0 draw.
It was a missed opportunity for Riveiro's side after Mahmoud Trezeguet missed a first-half penalty.
However, Palmeiras and FC Porto failed to capitalise on the other two teams dropping points as they also played out a goalless draw in the group's other game.
Speaking ahead of the Palmeiras clash, Riveiro said his team must avoid making the same mistakes it did in the game against Inter Miami, according to African Football.
"It’s a football game; it’s a game of mistakes. I think we had a decent amount of chances in the first half to put the game in a different space,” the Spaniard said.
"Second half, we were defending a bit lower than what we wanted, and then we had some problems in the transitions as well," he added.
A win for Al Ahly against Palmeiras will put the Red Giant in a commanding position to qualify for the last 16.
"Now we need to recover. It’s difficult to speak about Palmeiras. We prepare for the game as well as we can. We are going to analyse what happened today to try and avoid the same mistakes," he concluded.
