Earlier this week, the Red Devils made the 49-year-old's appointment official, as he becomes only the second tactician from the Iberian Peninsula to lead the Club of the Century.
He replaces Emad El-Nahhas, who was in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season, and becomes the permanent successor to Swiss coach Marcel Koller.
According to El Watan Sports, the Spaniard has signed a two-year deal with the North African giants and will earn $100,000 (R1.7 million) per month.
Riveiro, however, did not arrive alone. Carlos Nodar joins as assistant coach, Miguel Pepeira as physical trainer, Juan Jose as the new goalkeeper coach, and Sebastian Podsiadly as performance analyst. The same report claims his assistants will collectively earn $65,000 per month.
It is understood that bonus clauses have also been included in his contract. Riveiro will reportedly receive a bonus worth three months’ salary if he wins the CAF Champions League, and one month’s salary should he win the Egyptian Premier League and/or the CAF Super Cup.
