Riveiro Brings African Star Back To Al Ahly Squad

New Al Ahly coach Jose Riveiro has reportedly welcomed one African star back into the squad ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Mali international Aliou Dieng was surprisingly loaned out to Saudi Pro League side Al-Kholood Club at the start of the 2024/25 season.

The 27-year-old made 30 appearances and scored three goals for Al-Kholood Club, who finished in ninth position.

According to reports in Egypt, as cited by Ysscores, Dieng is now expected to remain with Al Ahly next season based on the recommendation from Riveiro.

The Malian midfielder has been key figure for Al Ahly since arriving at the club in 2019 and has made 213 appearances in that period while winning numerous trophies.

The report adds that Dieng has obtained a visa for the United States as the team prepare to depart for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Al Ahly will lock horns with Inter Miami in the opening game of the tournament before they clash with Palmeiras and FC Porto.
