The club has been searching for a permanent manager since Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro was sacked following the club's elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Stellenbosch.
Despite the team's struggles, the club still managed to win the Egyptian Cup and finish 3rd in the Egyptian Premier League under the guidance of Ayman El-Ramady.
According to Zamalek News, the team's planning committee has been headed by Mido and the club's new sporting director, John Edward.
Planning Committee member Hazem Emam and former assistant coach Ayman Abdel Aziz have also been part of discussions.
Mido and Edward, along with the planning committee, have reportedly already identified the list of players who will be leaving the club but the club will first wait to make new signings, according to Elbalad news.
"There is a list of names of those leaving that has been prepared by the planning committee, and they don't want to announce it until negotiations are underway with some new signings. Mido is the one currently negotiating with some names," journalist Amir Hisham said.
While the links to Mosimane have not gone away, Saudi on Portal revealed there is a shortlist of foreign names.

"There is talk within the club's management about a number of foreign names being considered for the technical position. Although a decision on the new coach has not yet been made, John Edward is carefully reviewing the resumes of the candidates." it said.
