The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has banned Samuel Eto'o's former international teammate Geremi Njitap from all football-related activities.

Geremi, the president of the National Union of Footballers of Cameroon (SYNAFOC), has been at loggerheads with the former Barcelona forward since FECAFOOT decided to exclude Synafoc from the federation's general assembly.
The former Chelsea defender took Eto'o and Fecafoot to court to appeal the decision with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
According to Afrik Foot, Eto'o's decision stems from an incident that occurred at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) when Geremi was forcibly expelled from the national team locker room under instruction from the ex-Inter Milan striker. The reasons behind the expulsion, suspension and subsequent ban reportedly remains unclear.
In November 2024, Fecafoot had withdrew Synafoc's status as a recognised union, instead opting for the National Association of Cameroonian Footballers (ANFC).
The controversial decision is considered arbitrary and political, with some suggestions that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) allegedly asked Fecafoot to suspend proceedings against Geremi since the incident occurred at a CAF competition.
Afrik Foot claim that Eto'o's team reportedly ignored the injunction in a bid to eliminate those deemed 'hostile' to its governance.
It remains to be seen whether the ex-Newcastle man will take action against Eto'o and the decision but there is a possibility that either CAF or CAS may intervene.
