The story

Grant Kekana is one of Rulani Mokwena's most trusted soldiers at Mamelodi Sundowns, having featured in a mammoth 36 matches in all competitions for the Brazilians this season.

Kekana has established himself as a starter at Masandawana as well as the national team under Hugo Broos, with the 31-year-old regarded as one of Mzansi's elite central defenders.

The former SuperSport United centre-back has enjoyed a successful time at Downs since arriving in 2021 and has collected seven trophies so far, three of them being DStv Premiership titles.

Kekana feels that he managed to reach a new level working under Rulani Mokwena and credited the young coach for helping him improve through his attention to detail.

In a video shared by SuperSport's social media channels, the baller touched on how Mokwena's has fostered a culture of ongoing learning within the players, tasking them to analyse their performances and constantly look at where they can improve.

"He loves football. He talks, lives, eats football. That's also another way of him helping us as players to improve, you know, because he wants us to watch our games, helps us watch our games and to correct errors in our previous games and that's something that was foreign to me when I came here. I didn't ever do that where I came from," Kekana tells SuperSport.

"You get to understand that it's the small details that help you improve as a player. One can only be grateful to have come across such a coach, who puts so much effort and time into football. And you can see, personally, I know that I have improved in leaps and bounds from when I first arrived here.

"Just because of the small details that he [Rulani] pays attention to and that you, yourself end up doing now because you're in a space that requires you to pay attention to certain things that you might've neglected. Yeah, I'm just so fortunate to be coached by him," concludes Kekana.

Rulani responded to Kekana in the comments to say: "@papa_tsitsi what an amazing human being."
