Thamsanqa Gabuza Has Apologised For Leaving The Field During A Match

Thamsanqa Gabuza has apologised throwing his playing jersey to the supporters and for leaving the field during the match for Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards.

In celebrating Bucs' opening goal in their 2-1 win over Leopards last night, Gabuza took off his jersey and threw it to the fans before walking off down the tunnel seemingly in frustration.

The 31-year-old was later red-carded for his action by the match referee.

The Buccaneers have posted the player's emotional apology through a video message on the club's official Twitter account from which in the end the striker could be seen surrounded by his teammates, head coach Milutin Sredojevic and his entire technical team who are all visibly in support of him during this difficult period.

"To the supporters of Pirates, I would like to sincerely apologise for what happened in the game against Leopards where I took off my jersey and threw it to the supporters and for walking off the field. As the players, we represent the team from the dressing room and onto the field we do our best to win the game and to make the supporters happy. It's not like we go there to make the team lose. It was my frustration that while I was playing I heard comments that I should be substituted. But I apologise profusely for what I did. What happened was not right and I'm really, really sorry and I'm repeating it again I'm very, very sorry (translated)," said Gabuza.
