Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Darrel Matsheke says the upcoming season is personal after he pointed out that the image of him being a troublesome player is incorrect.
Matsheke was with Stellies for a few months before the club let him go in March 2024. In a statement, the club said: "Stellenbosch Football Club has parted ways with Darrel Matsheke by mutual agreement after the player transgressed the club’s internal code of conduct."

The player has put it behind him and is determined to make the most of his time at Gallants.
"This season is personal to me. I've craved a lot for this opportunity to come and now I have this opportunity. I am back in the Premier League, so I am just going to showcase what I have and try to remove the way people view me since my departure at Stellenbosch FC," Matsheke said to Soccer Laduma.
He went on to explain how he thinks people view him after the statement made by Stellenbosch.
"As this troublesome player. It comes from what was said by Stellenbosch. What was said by Stellenbosch is what painted me."
