Solinas On Chiefs’ Form: ‘It’s Great, But…’
Giovanni Solinas is delighted that Kaizer Chiefs have now won three consecutive games for the first time in over a year after they saw off AmaZulu over the weekend.
The Glamour Boys put in a confident performance against Usuthu as they landed three back-to-back victories for the first time since April 2017, with the win seeing them finish the weekend in third place on the Absa Premiership table.
Solinas, who has seen his team score as many goals in eight games this season (13) as they scored in 15 matches in 2017/18, was very happy with the performance at FNB Stadium, but admits that it ‘should be normal’ for the club to be in this kind of form.
He told the club’s official website, “We dominated the game and created a lot of chances. Everything is positive. However, we have to keep our feet on the ground and continue to work hard to improve even further.
“I am happy with the result against AmaZulu and above all about the manner we played. It wasn’t easy though, as they have a good team and they did well against Mamelodi Sundowns last week. It’s great to win three games in a row, but that should be normal for Kaizer Chiefs.”
The Italian also added that they were on the backfoot at the start of the season due to his late arrival, though that things are now changing. He said, “We started with a handicap because I didn’t really have a pre-season with the squad. Then there were a lot of games – play, play, play. The FIFA break helped us to fix some mistakes and to understand the philosophy that I want the team to play to.”
Chiefs’ next game sees them face Highlans Park away from home as they seek four consecutive league wins for the first time since February of last year.
