After it was claimed that Fluminense had submitted a offer to Mamelodi Sundowns for Lucas Ribeiro Costa, fresh reports now suggest that Percy Tau’s former club, Qatar SC, have also formalised their interest in the Brazilian forward.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Rio de Janeiro-based outfit had stolen a march on their competitors in the race to sign the 26-year-old attacker by lodging an official bid.
Costa previously faced the Brazilian side during the FIFA Club World Cup, and it appears that Tricolor took a liking to the Masandawana talisman, reportedly keen to bring him to the Maracana.
However, it seems the four-time Brazilian champions now have competition from the Gulf region to consider.
Earlier in the transfer window, it emerged that Qatar SC—Tau’s former employers—were extremely interested in acquiring Costa.
According to Brazilian publication ge.globo, the Middle Eastern club have been tracking the newly crowned Premier Soccer League Player of the Season since the Club World Cup. However, at the time, they had yet to submit a formal bid, which allowed Fluminense to gain the early advantage.
That may no longer be the case. The same Brazilian publication now reports that Qatar SC have officially submitted an offer to the South African champions.

While it has been suggested that Costa is keen on returning to play in his home country, it is understood that the Qatari club are offering a more lucrative package. It remains to be seen which offer Ka Bo Yellow will ultimately accept, but it's clear that these two clubs have emerged as the leading contenders for the forward’s signature.
An attempt to reach out to Mamelodi Sundowns was made prior to the publishing of this article and no response was received at the time of publishing.
