Soccer Laduma can exclusively reveal that Orlando Pirates have cooled their interest in Malian attacker Adama Coulibaly following the hefty €2 million (R41 million) price tag Al Hilal Omdurman have placed on him.

The Buccaneers have been one of the most active clubs in the Betway Premiership this transfer window. Last season’s league runners-up have already signed as many as 11 players and could still make more additions, with teenage sensation Coulibaly previously understood to be among their targets.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a standout season in the Mauritanian topflight, the Super D1, and caught further attention with his impressive displays for the Blue Wave in the CAF Champions League — including a late goal against Young Africans during a 2-0 group-stage win at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
His form has attracted interest from clubs across both Africa and Europe, with Pirates and Esperance de Tunis believed to be among the most keen within the CAF region.
However, a source close to the situation has now informed Soccer Laduma that the Soweto giants have since cooled their interest.
That likely has to do with the staggering €2 million valuation Al Hilal have attached to the youngster. The Sudanese giants initially signed Coulibaly from AS Bakaridjan for just €200 000 (R4.1 million) and now hope to earn ten times that figure from a potential sale.

The source also confirmed that while the player is desperate to leave, the current asking price has become a major stumbling block — not just for Pirates, but also for Esperance.
