MTN8 Final Starting XI: Pirates v AmaZulu

Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu battle it out for MTN8 honours at a sold out Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.

MTN8 Final

Teams: Orlando Pirates v AmaZulu

Date: 05 November 2022

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Time: 18h00

Pirates reached the final after a resounding 3-0 aggregate victory over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, with all three goals coming in the second leg.

However, the Buccaneers have had mixed results in the league, with only one win in their last five matches and come to the final on the back of 1-0 loss to rivals Kaizer Chiefs last Saturday.

Pirates are the record winners of the tournament under current sponsors with three titles and will be looking to extend their record to four trophies after they last won the 2020 edition.

AmaZulu, meanwhile, progressed to the final after edging Chiefs on away goals rule following a 1-1 draw over two legs in the last round..

New Usuthu head coach Romain Folz finally won his first game on South African soil after a narrow 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch in the league last Sunday.

AmaZulu have not won a trophy since lifting the 1992 Coca-Cola Cup (previously known as Telkom Knockout).

The sides have already met in the league this season after playing to a 1-1 draw in Folz's first game in charge of the KwaZulu-Natal side last month.
