Prolific Rwandan Premier League top scorer Umar Abba has landed in South Africa as he looks to take the next big step in his football journey, with Polokwane City among the clubs vying for his signature.

The 24-year-old forward arrived in Limpopo on the weekend and has already featured in a friendly match for Rise and Shine, where he is said to have impressed the club’s technical team.

“The player is impressive. He is top,” a source confirmed to the Siya crew.

“He scored 17 goals last season and already played one friendly here. The coaches were impressed. He’s quality,” added the source.

Abba was the top goal scorer in the Rwandan Premier League last season with 17 goals, attracting attention from clubs across the continent.

His physical presence, goal sense, and work rate have made him one of the most sought-after emerging talents in African football.

The striker is now exploring options in Mzansi, with Polokwane City offering him a possible gateway into the Betway Premiership.

The Siya crew understands that several PSL clubs have been made aware of Abba’s availability and are considering their next move. Among them are Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu, and Siwelele FC.

According to sources close to the situation, Abba has already received offers from outside Mzansi, but the player is believed to be keen on making a name for himself in the PSL first.

“The boy has a few options in SA and also several offers on the continent. He’s only 24, and there’s a lot of interest,” the insider added.
