After impressing in the ABC Motsepe national playoffs and being selected into the Bafana Bafana CHAN squad by coach Molefe Ntseki, winger Siyabonga Mashinini is an option for newly promoted Durban City to sign.

Insiders close to both the club and the player have indicated that the speedy and skilful winger has been recommended to Durban City and will start training with the club.

Durban City chairman and owner Farook Kadodia spoke to Soccer Laduma about the situation.

"We haven't signed yet. We are preparing to bring him down, so the coach must see him, yeah. Yes, correct the coach is interested in him," Kadodia told Soccer Laduma.

Meanwhile, an insider close to the player disclosed how coach Gavin Hunt could plan the way forward and how he might use the 22-year-old Mashinini in the team.

"He is coming from Gomora United. 22-years-old, very speedy winger. He created a goal for Gomora in the playoffs in the semi-finals and in the finals. He was also with Bafana Bafana at CHAN. That's the situation. He is a very, very influential player," the source told the Siya crew.

However, Gomora United chairman Joe Seanego told this publication that he doesn't know where Mashinini is, revealing that Chippa United were originally interested in him.

"I am not sure. I don't know (about Durban City's interest). He just went missing and I don't know where he is. What I know is that he was supposed to go to Chippa United and I don't know what is happening to him. Chippa is the one that approached us, and we had a mutual agreement. I don't know how he can sign because he didn't even get the clearance. We are not selling him, but we just need to talk. For now, I don't know what's happening because when we call him he says he has a headache. I don't have a problem if he has found a team, but he has to leave properly and thank you for the opportunity. What I know is that Chippa are the ones who had shown interest," Seanego told Soccer Laduma.

Mashinini's situation highlights the complexities of player transfers in South African football, where promising talent often find themselves caught between multiple interested parties. His potential move to Durban City represents a significant opportunity for both player and club, with Hunt's experience likely to be crucial in developing the young winger's career while helping the newly promoted side establish themselves in the top flight.
