The Siya crew has learned that Lyle Lakay, Brooklyn Poggenpoel, and Vincent Pule all face uncertain futures as they are currently out of contract. Their respective deals expired on 30 June, and with new management now overseeing the club’s affairs, their next steps remain unclear.
Despite the contractual uncertainty, all three players have reported for pre-season duties, as they look to resolve their situations with Siwelele FC. The trio will be hoping to impress and secure new deals under the revamped technical team, which is yet to be officially confirmed.
Of the three, Poggenpoel featured most prominently last season, making 22 appearances across all competitions. Pule, who joined from Orlando Pirates, made 23 appearances but was used mostly as a substitute. Veteran left-footer Lakay, who rejoined the club after a spell at Mamelodi Sundowns, turned out 17 times during the campaign.
With the club currently undergoing a complete transformation following the sale, several players and staff members are waiting to see whether they form part of the new vision in Bloemfontein.
The situation surrounding these three experienced campaigners will be one to watch in the coming days, as Siwelele look to finalise their squad for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
