MC Alger are believed to be advancing swiftly in negotiations for the South African forward, who has remained a priority target for Mokwena since his arrival in Algeria.
The 38-year-old tactician, who previously coached Mailula at Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club, is understood to have made the two-cap international one of his key signings for the new season.
Mailula, who hails from Ga Molepo in Limpopo, enjoyed a breakout 2022/23 campaign under Mokwena at Sundowns, scoring 15 goals and registering four assists across all competitions. His form earned him a high-profile move to Toronto FC in Major League Soccer, though the transition proved difficult, with limited playing time during his debut season.
Last season, however, Mokwena came to his rescue by signing him on loan at Wydad, where the pair rekindled their attacking rhythm.
Now, Siya sources suggest that a permanent move to MC Alger is imminent, with both parties pushing to complete the deal before the end of the week.
