Sources close to the club have indicated that Amakhosi are believed to be monitoring the midfielder, who has been instrumental in Durban City's push for promotion to the Betway Premiership.

The insiders added that Chiefs are viewing Jodwana as a valuable squad option as they continue their rebuilding process ahead of next season.

"He is one of the local players that they have been monitoring. They are exploring all possibilities as they may not sign some of the desired and wanted players. But he is also a very good midfielder with experience having played for Chippa United before. So as much as they have enquired about him, they are still believed to be looking at finalising the shopping list for next season and Athini Jodwana is one of them," the source revealed to the Siya crew.

In addition to identifying new targets, Chiefs are also planning a significant squad reshuffle, which could see some players leaving to make room for new signings.

A second insider stated that players such as Mduduzi Mdantsane, Tebogo Potsane, and Sabelo Radebe are among those who could be released as Chiefs attempt to balance squad numbers and manage salary expenses effectively.

"As much as they are looking at bringing in new players they are also looking at releasing a number of players both in defence and attack. They are not just cutting on the squad numbers but also salary expenditures as well. They want to balance with the outgoings and the incomings and that's why they will release some when signing new ones," the second insider observed.

Jodwana has been a standout for Durban City this season, featuring in many games. Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this story.
