17 Players Gone, But Usuthu Keep Key Man

Bongani Zungu and Taariq Fielies are staying with AmaZulu.

After confirming the exit of 17 players last week, AmaZulu have been working behind the scenes to hold onto some other players, one of them being a key defender.

Usuthu released a list of 16 players who they have parted with and also confirmed that Tshepang Moremi will be joining Soweto giants Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Usuthu are understood to have agreed a deal with defender Taariq Fielies that could keep him in KwaZulu-Natal at least until June 2027.

He joined AmaZulu in 2023 on a two-year deal, with an option to extend until June 2026. Another option has been added to his contract, which means he has the potential to be there until June 2027.

Fielies, a former Milano United and Cape Town City defender, made 28 appearances in all competitions for Usuthu, scoring one goal for the KZN outfit.

At 33, he is one of the experiened campaigners in the team and is valued for his leadership both on and off the pitch.

Usuthu are also expected to keep Bongani Zungu, Pule Ekstein and Ben Motswari ahead of the new campaign.
