Kaizer Chiefs started the current Betway Premiership campaign on a positive note, beating Stellenbosch FC 2-0 on Sunday at Athlone Stadium, but captain Inacio Miguel has urged caution against getting carried away.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday ahead of their next league game against Polokwane City on Wednesday, Chiefs captain Miguel said that sometimes high expectations from supporters can be dangerous for the team.

Miguel emphasized that as a team, they don't want to pressure themselves with high expectations, but instead will take it one game at a time, with the next focus being on Polokwane City.
“Expectations are dangerous, you know, as it can create a lot of things in your mind. So you have to live the moment. Then enjoy the moment. Last season when I arrived, we had a lot of expectations about what we can do, about what we can achieve. Thanks to God, we had good achievements last season, but we also had some bad moments," Miguel told the media.
Meanwhile, the Angolan-born defender further stated that for now, what they should do is take it one game at a time and progress with that approach.

“So, this season I think I will live game by game and do my best in every training every day. I will try to focus on today and not what can happen next week. So, the big difference from last season to this season will be that we have to go game by game without a lot of expectations. I’m not thinking of what we can achieve. I’m thinking of the next game, and that way it will be easy for everybody. It was an important win because starting the season with a win helps. Our focus is now on Polokwane,” Miguel concluded.
Chiefs face Polokwane City, the team that denied them a top-eight finish last season when they held them to a goalless draw at FNB Stadium in the final game of the campaign.
