Stellenbosch, however, did play over 75 minutes with ten men after Siviwe Nkali's sending off in the first half.
Ben Youssef took charge of the Chiefs side in place of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is in Tunisia attending a personal matter.
“Yes, I think even the players that come from the bench. Before the game we discussed about the importance of the player that’s coming from the bench," Youssef told SuperSport after the game.
“I think all of them, I don’t have to say one by one even Mshishi’ we tried to make some substitution. He felt a little bit pain so we didn’t want to take the risks.
“OX, Ndlovu – I think step-by-step with the new players come back for us I think this season will be better for us and well perform very well."
Youssef added that Chiefs players did suffer a little in the first half despite having the numerical advantage.
“We suffered a little bit in the first half because when we scored when the opponent received a red card, mentally we thought we had finished the game. We were lucky not to concede," he added.
